First, the informed voters and the loosely knit group who post on this site. It is still amazing, that since January, I can only remember one quick meeting to "design a flyer". This was never an orchestrated effort. We never held meetings.
“Who are we?” … to be honest, some of us have never met face to face. We knew the issues, we made sure all our statements were based on facts and we used all the tools we could find to pass our message on to our friends and neighbors in the community. The Budget2010 email address was used often to contact the BOS, BOF and the BOE. All of us wrote letters, sent emails, set up a petition drive, attended meetings, prepared and printed flyers and tried to contribute to the discussion. There was never a scheduled plan that assign topics. Reading through some of the letters to the editor and even the comments on this board, everyone submitted their statements differently. It is absolutely incredible to be both a witness and a participant to this movement.
Again, “Who are we?” …. The “group’ consists of young parents with children enrolled in school, community members with no children, retirees, long time residents, newcomers to the town, grandparents etc. We are residents who love our small community. Throughout this journey, we were respectful and always mindful of the service and diligence of our board members.
Hopefully the efforts of this group will continue. I know several citizens in town read through this forum and several have even jumped into the discussion(s). Welcome to all of you !! This is a wonderful vehicle to share information or research a topic. I encourage more of you to participate . Let’s be more prepared for next year.
