Those are 2009/10 salaries. Not sure what the increases are supposed to be for 10/11? Anyone know? But you cannot tell me that those admins. should not be asked for concessions. They can afford it. (That is part of the 1.49 percent increase proposal that Siminiski just introduced to the RHAM BOE).

As someone who has taught at the HS level, and who has spent ample time helping out at the K and Grade 1 levels, you cannot convince me that an elementary teacher's job even approaches the stress and difficulty level of a MS or HS teacher. I know nothing about the para support at the MS and HS, but I know how difficult students are to work with at these ages. So what is going on here? Not to mention the knowledge level required to teach some of these subjects as opposed to, say, kindergarten or Grade 1. How did these salaries get to where they are? And why shouldn't the elementary teachers be pushed to make concessions?
