All Day Kindergarten in Hebron, can we afford it? 2 years, 3 months ago #671

Read the article posted on the home page about "Does Hebron Need All Day Kindergarten? Does All Day Kindergarten Equate to Improved Mastery Test Results" and lets nip this in the bud like the BOE does to citizens who do not agree with them.

Taxpayer Funded Day Care, Are U Serious

HELL NO If You Want It, You Pay Da freight. You YUPPY TYPES,Don't Put It On The Backs Of The People in Town( More Than You Realize) That Are STRUGGLING Ju$t To Pay A Food/Heating/Mortgage Bill

Seems 2 Me Dat These ADK Advocates Are Just Looking For a Free Ride From Da Town Taxpayers : P

Simply Put & From Personal Experience, The Yuppies In Town Want It All & Just Want To Spend As Little As Po$$ible Outta There OWN POCKET$

Blue Collar Example.

My Years In The Hospitality Industry Showed/Taught Me ALOT!!!!

Folks That Were Well Off?

Lucky If You Could Pry A Penny Outta Their Sorry A$$E$ For Good Service.

Point Is, Hebron Has Turned Into Hebronbury, To The Detrimement Of Our Quaint Little Burg.

NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE LITTLE GUY ANYMORE In Our Town Might You Say

BUT I DO & Will ALWAYS

Of those who support ALL day kindergarten ... WONDER HOW MANY OF THOSE HOUSEHOLDS HAVE BOTH PARENTS WORKING?? Bet it is a high percentage!! I stayed home with our kids and return to my profession when they were in high school.

I agree with NP ... it is FREE DAYCARE paid by the taxpayers.

Can't help but agree with you here.

Why are they only polling parents who are enrolling kids in kindergarten, instead of the whole community, or at least all the parents of students in the school system.

Once your youngest kid is out of kindergarten, the program doesn't affect you, so there'd be less support for something (a) that wasn't available for your own kids and (b) that will only raise your taxes, and then (c) that hasn't been shown to improve learning.

Auntie: You are so right!!! Why not poll all the taxpayers not just those using the ADK.

Polling the users of the service and getting rave reviews is mis-leading. It is the same as asking all blueberry lovers if "blueberry pie is their favorite". Do you think they will "understand" the comparison.

How can anyone reading the articles on the BUDGET ISSUE tab of the home page support all-day-kindergarten? All the information is data driven. Personalities and wish lists are removed from the equation. This is how the BOE should and MUST make their decisions.

No child in our community will be impacted negatively by not being admitted to an ADK. Parents and the influence of the home are the keys to a child's success ... not some stranger who is present with them for a few more hours during the school day. Our parents possess all the "correct attributes" (those listed in one of the supporting documents on the budget issue tab) to make educating the youngest members of our community an easy task.

I wonder where the "outrage" is from the parents whose children did not win the lottery to enroll in the program. Could this be another potential lawsuit for our "education" department in town? Think about it ... all children should be included or all should be excluded. Lottery or not .. public education is for everyone AND IF this program is suppose to be so terrific, why are some excluded??
