We bought it, now we have responsibility for it.

Same issue as the parks.

It was obvious to anyone who cared to think about it that the price paid was not just the initial $$$, but there are ongoing costs as well.

Have they figured out what to do with it?

I ALWAYS Have & ALWAYS WILL Be Against Spending Taxpayers $$$$ On It.Should Not Have Bought It In The 1st Place, They #$%^&* Up Trying To Sell It,(The Farber Debacle), A Few "Cards" were Played Also In The Ensuing Debate Which Pi$$ed Me Off Even More & Now This? Let It Go, Give It Away, Ju$t Get It Outta Taxpayers Way I Say. What Account Will They Rob From Next To Pay For It? LINE ITEM TRANSFERS SUCK!

Gonna Shock The World

I Fully Agree With Mark Stuart & His Recent Comments On The Issue Of the acceptance Of The Money For The peters House

Most Pointed Commentary & I Rarely see Eye To Eye With Him On anything, But He's Right on With his Thoughts about It.

This time He's right About It

OK, that's cool with me after 6 years of debate. I'm tired and not spending my last 3 years continuing the debate. How about I just return the $35,000 in PRIVATE donations and the grant possibility for an additional $40,000 in PRIVATE donations in January???

OH! And Mr. Stuart held up MY private donations until the budget passed!!! Like one has to do with another.

OH! And give the STEAP money back! There are 57 towns on the list that will gladly take it! And giving the STEAP money back means Hebron will never receive another STEAP grant. For anything! Hope you enjoyed the STEAP money for Company 3 Fire Station, the park, sidewalks, etc..

As one of my colleagues at work frequently says, "I'll fix me!"

If you think the STEAP grant is going back into your pocket, you are incorrect. Other towns on the waiting list? Greenwich!!! Those folks are obviously in great need... Yea! Let's give it to Greenwich! I'll fix me!

Mr. Stuart, with his incessant diatribes, has made it almost IMPOSSIBLE to get private grant donations for this town, no matter what it's for. So keep supporting him... almost all grant foundations at the state and national levels have been decimated for either (1) universal healthcare costs (Preserve America grants completely wiped out); or (2) the State of Connecticut is in the deep hole ... although of course they keep spending and spending and spending. The STEAP funds we were granted this year were bonded several years ago; nothing to do with this year's budget crisis...

So just keep letting private foundations (what few are left) know that you are not interested in their grant money. I'll fix me!

Have you been to any of the meetings to see how many people support the preservation of this house? Are you aware that the $35K grant is PRIVATE money? Are you aware that the STEAP money is going to be spent, one way or another, either here or in another town--like Greenwich. Do you suppose some other town has a use for that money that is more appropriate than the Peters House? It's not going back into your pocket--it's in the hands of the state, and they are gonna spend it. Better here than someplace else. They have decided that this house is a worthy cause. Should we turn down this money, some of it private money, and instead let this building rot into the ground? Become an eyesore at the entrance of the new park we just spent millions of dollars on? The town made a committment to the house a long time ago. Now lets get on with it, and while we're at it, how about showing some gratitude for the monetary gifts that've been bestowed upon the town. Thanks to the hard work of a select few dedicated individuals, I might add.
