The August 25th school schedule may have been a little too aggressive. Don't these folks "think" through their plans. A district convocation and a teachers "meet and greet" ....all within a half an hour with the "meet and greet" at two different schools. DUHHHHHH!!

We are OFF AND RUNNING and already entertained by the administrators decision. It appears not a lot of thought was put into the schedule. How was this to work for families with children in BOTH schools? Is she even aware that most families have more than one child enrolled? Did she considered the possibility that the children (from one family) may be in different schools? Was the safety of the children even considered when no school buses or "shuttles" were used and parents had to hurry to find parking and some may have had to park away from the building? Basic questions that should have been answered BEFORE the activities. I bet some families had to walk along busy roads without sidewalks. WHY didn't the teachers/BOE question this schedule.

Teachers, you are the "hearts" of our schools. Our children are in your care. Please speak up and point out the obvious flaws in an administrator's schedule. Remember to challenge any schedule that could result in an accident in town:rushing around in a short time frame with children in a car and because of lack of parking, families walking on a roadway. Both are a formula for tragedy!!

WHAT does this administrator think about when she schedules events.... what would the media specialist think about scheduled activity. Is this a way to IMPROVE relationships with community members, I think not!!

I heard reports of this from friends/neighbors, and I understand parents and students were parking on Rt 85 right across from HES. This administration apparently has forgotten the fact that a few short years ago a student was struck by a car crossing that street in that spot.

Scheduling only a half hour for students to find their new classroom, meet their classroom teacher, is completely inconsiderate. With 25 kids per classroom, students and parents would have perhaps a minute of their teacher's attention, especially counting the fact that some students will like to stop by a former teacher's classroom to simply say hello, how was your summer, etc.

What is worse is the fact that this same chaotic schedule was apparently just adopted last year - and despite the complaints from parents the administration decided to do it the same way. Reports were that families were lined up an hour ahead of time, so they could park, while they had to wait to get in to the classrooms. Additionally, an intercom announcement directed all teachers to a "mandatory" meeting after the quick half hour.

Many parents want to help out at the schools, and they should be made to feel welcome - not like they are an intrusion.
