Important decisions made at tonight's BOE meeting: all non-certified staff laid off a couple of weeks ago have been reinstated/re-hired with the exception of the custodian's position and the 2 hours per week reduction in a GES Secretary position.

This is great news, except that of course we would like to see the custodian's position reinstated.

George Gould, union rep, stated that due to recently passed legislation on prescription drug pooling, he would like to meet with the Superintendent and discuss ideas on cost savings in order to restore the custodial position.

I have lots more detail on how the Board found the cost savings to reinstate the positions; I'll post tomorrow. Getting late and there's lots of detail! But wanted to let you know that all but one of the non-certs were restored, and there's still a very good chance that the custodial position can still be restored!
