Congratulations to all those that wished we could keep (and voted for) a 0% budget increase. Your hard work at selfishly and/or ignorantly watching a "bottom line" has resulted in some very hard working paraprofessionals losing their jobs today. You haven't successfully eliminated the ADK program (yet) - but you have now made our school system less beneficial to those special children that need help, have caused added strain to the resources available to your own children (assuming you have children in the school), and potential caused future needs for these children when they reach RHAM, which will impact all of our childrens' education.

Unless you work at the school (like I do), and are thanking God that you didn't lose your job today (like I am), and are very concerned that the children you have worked with all year won't suffer next year because of these cuts (like I worry) -- you have no idea what you are talking about. You can call me every name in the book, accuse me of being in somebody's pocket, tell me that I'm ignorant all day long -- it doesn't matter because your posts reveal your motives very clearly to every "knowing" reader on this site.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do about the administration and the BOE. I have no feelings one way or the other. I simply "know" what is required to make a school run efficiently. You're an outsider, looking in. Without any real knowledge or experience of what goes on in our schools. And that is sad, because you are so vocally ignorant. I wish we could swap shoes for a day. I am confident you would feel differently.

and just to make a point. If your boss was a little more transparent to her bosses (the public) maybe a different road could of been taken. I'm sorry people lost their jobs I really am, however, I do love living in this town and we just can't afford everything that was asked for. If the teachers union agreed to forgo raises those people could have retained their jobs. Who are the selfish ones?

I am surprised that people were notified today that they were losing their jobs, BEFORE the Board of Ed meeting tonight.

1. Get Out. ( Much Encouraged Cuz Us Old Timers Made More, More Vac Time ETC)

Many Were HARASSED, Nickle Dimed In Evaluations & Some were FORCED Out On A Whim

2. My Situation

I'm A Person Of Simple Means Lifestyle/ Fiscally

I Came Within 6 Months Of Being Out Of A Job, No Bennys, No Nothing after 18 + yrs Of Only Being Out Sick 7 Days & 4 Of Them Came in the Last 2 Yrs

After several Of Us Got Toghether & Took them On, Legal advice Was Given( Pro Bono) To Us & after all Of That, We Were Offered Positions at a SIGNIFICANT Loss Of Pay, But No Loss Of Others Bennys

In The economy Back Then, It was The Best we Could Do, But i'm a Damn Proud Person Who wants To WORK For a Living & Provide For My Family, Not rely On The Charity Of Strangers Or Handouts.

Here We Are, 1 1/2 Yrs Later.
