Unfortunately, I don't see them making any admin. cuts. My guess is they'll stick with the "fluff" cuts they laid out at their last meeting.

Still no meeting minutes to look at from the last meeting, and the agenda for the 6/10 meeting has no mention that a meeting occured on 6/3.

Who is responsible for posting that info? With all of the many, many admins and secretaries they have in their employ, is it too much to ask that they get this information up in a timely manner? Aren't they legally required to have this info available?

Does anyone know if the FT teaching position to be cut is definitively a PreK position or could it be Music, Spanish, etc?

If I recall correctly, part of the Super's swing for ADK expansion was that PreK enrollment for 2010-11 was down so they'd move a PreK teacher to K (part of the ADK expansion =no add'l cost theory). Now I'm hearing that the 2010-11 PreK numbers will be the same as 2009-10. Can anyone confirm this as accurate?

If it is the case that the PreK enrollment will be the same as this year and they cut a PreK teacher, what would class size increase to? Has this been discussed (sorry, didn't know about the most recent BOE meeting)? Just wondering because perhaps it would be preferable to cut the Spanish teacher (since the program is already designed so poorly and doesn't have a chance IMHO) and rebuild the Spanish programs when funds allow (who knows when!) rather than cut a valuable PreK teacher and impact PreK class size?

Thoughts/Confirmations anyone please and thank you..

This is precisely the problem - we don't have ANY meaningful information from the BOE as far as what is on the table or not.

The only information we have is the report posted here at D&S - which basically said there were some savings from oil and elec that offset some of the cuts if they shift to next year, etc., and that more discussion would happen on the 6/10 meeting.

I agree with you that the Spanish program is a complete waste of time - from all reports they don't teach any Spanish - but the kids could learn more from a single episode of Dora the Explorer.

Why is it that the majority of Hebron kids choose NOT to take Spanish when they get to RHAM middle school? Because they have gotten the impression from HES that Spanish is a waste of time.

I think what I've been hearing about the pre-K is that some of the special needs students that might have gone to ADK will stay in pre-K if there is no ADK. They have played enough games with the numbers so nobody knows for sure.

This is little old me talking - I've been an advocate for the school budget for many many years, and I don't trust it when we don't have any information to go on.
