TOPIC: SURE IS QUIET AROUND TOWN

SURE IS QUIET AROUND TOWN 1 year, 12 months ago #1743

My, My, My

There hasn't been a posting on the BOE web site as to when a public meeting will be held to decide where the BOF recommended cuts will be made. We know though, the usual cuts will be made to Children's programs and made to punish and threaten the innocent. That's not new though with the BOE - always in a fog and not straight forward. The Selectmen made their cuts final at their 5/20 (Thursday) meeting. No time wasted there.

In case you missed it, there has been a listing being passed around that was extracted from the BOE budget which lists Eleanor Cruz's office expenses. The tally for Cruz's office amounts to $644,626. One office! There are also figures for other administrative salaries and office expenses. One would think a couple of hundred thousand from administration would not impact the education of our students. Postage costs over $8K, office supplies 24K, then throw in eight secretaries?

Oh well - What's a million plus dollars for administration (non teaching positions) to run a school system of 1,142 children. Enrollment is going down, administrative costs go up. This does not make sense when the Nation’s economy is in a pickle.

After This Yrs Budgetary Fiasco, How Much Ya Wanna Bet That Ellie ALREADY Haz Her Resume Circulating Around For another Job, Just Like "Slick Willy Silver" Did After The Folks Called Him Out, In order To get Away From U$ Informed Peeps Right??

bottom line? if they cared about the kids the teachers union would of agreed to not take raises this year. There was no compromise with them and I harbor great resentment toward them. There nation is at 10% unemployment people are hurting but they "need" their raises. SELFISH!

Agree with all of you re the teachers, the administrators, and the rest of it. The focus is clearly not on the children here.

Hearing that the BOE will NOT have a special meeting to decide where their cuts will be but rather will wait until after the referendum and then, if it passes, decide where to cut. What are your thoughts on this? It's a good move on their part; making the vote a dollar one rather than about issues. However, their intentions are clear: they don't want the public involved in the issues.

As Ethically & Morally Bankrupt Towards Public Input That "Ellie & The Rubberstampers" Are, It Duz Make Sense Politically.

Typical Of Them NOT To Include Input From The Public On Anything In their Little Fiefdom

It Just adds To The Perception/REALITY That There Is A Total Disconnect & Disregard Of The Public Will By Them

My Gue$$ On The Cut$?

It Won't Be The Cirriculm Director, But Jeez, Dat $100,000 Would Be A Good Chuck Of Ching Towards The $127,000 That Is REQUIRED To Be Cut Right?

Music,A Teacher Or 2 Maybe & A $urprise Or 2 Tossed In Are All In Discussion Now, Just wait & Sea

No Matter what, They Are Using their Flawed sense Of Reality To Sea That They screwed Up Big time & are Now Backed Into A Deep Corner & That They will Cut Programs, Not Admin Positions, To The Detriment Of The Kids

Boy, Can't Wait Till Next yr's Budget Cycle

How Bad Are They Gonna Screw That Up??
