MAY 18th Referendum 2 years ago #1641

How I will Vote On The 18th, Leaning towards "NO", Since I Feel That The Cirriculum Po$ition Was ILLEGALLY Filled By Ellie & The HBOE & The Money $pent On What I$ A E$$entially a Paper Pushing Position Would Have Been Better $pent On A 2nd C&E Teacher & You Would STILL Have Some Money Left Over Mo$t Likely

I'm Still LEERY Of Ellie & The HBOE (Minus 1) Intentions

At The moment, I say Vote It Down AGAIN Most Likely, It's The ONLY WAY You Can Get Ellie & The Hboe(Minus 1) To Listen BUT,

AND, Drum Roll Please

Comprimi$e To Me Would Be DUMP VT'S Cirriculum Po$ition, Send Her Back To VP, Split The Duties among The Building Principle'$ Etc, Their ULTIMATLY responsible For The Educational Content & The Results To Begin with Right??

REINSTATE The 2nd C&E Teacher, Ellie & The HBOE Have Been Widely Quoted As Saying "It's For The Kids" & Yet They Keep adding More Beauracracy

Open For $uggestions, Pro/Con On The Above

Convince Me, One Way Or Another

At Thi$ Point, I'm Which way The Voters Will Go Hmmm

How Do Our Esteemed Members Of The Forum Think The Results Will Come Out Tues The 18th??

It's a tough one, because voting "no" will most likely not lead to the BOE making the right decisions, and they would probably cut programs further. That I would hate to see. Hard to know whether parents would believe the HBOE's cries of "we didn't have a choice," or they would get angry enough to realize that this supt. isn't making the best decisions for our children.

Clearly, things need to change within Hebron Public Schools. But I don't know if voting "no" would do any good. We'd still be stuck with the same supt., and a BOE that listens to her without thinking for themselves.

Ok well if you vote no because you want to see some things reinstated and changed (i.e. the Curriculum position, C&E teacher)is that realistic? From what I see when a budget fails the BOF is the one that tells the BOE that they need to cut not replace. For some reason a failed budget automatically means cut more - I don't agree with that but it's what it seems. So if you vote no then more cuts WILL be made - not solely because of the BOE but because they are being TOLD to cut.

Sorry if I am rambling - I haven't had any coffee yet this morning !

I just hope we see a much better turn out of voters this time around!!

Going to vote no until we see some transparency. I guess this means I'll be voting no for a quite a while. While I know there are some people here that hate the term All Day Kindercare thats what it is. I have a kid that will be going to school in the next couple of years but just like in my house when we can't afford something we don't buy it. The town can't afford it. We can't afford a lot of things you people vote yes on.

I will now vote "Yes" because I feel the Board listened to the voters' opposition to EXPANSION of ADK. Personally, I'd rather they remove the 2 existing ADK programs and reinstate their cuts (C&E, new 4th grade teacher, custodian, etc.) but I truly don't see that happening.

In addition, in reading the extensive and mixed research on ADK, there are indeed measurable long term benefits for ADK to Special Ed/at risk children. This group of children truly benefit from more repetition, a slower pace and more time for teachers/Specialists to address their identified learning disabilities.

If the referendum doesn't pass this time, I fear the BOE will return to the cuts they previously considered (Music, Spanish, etc) rather than remove the 2 ADK sections.

Lastly, what's the deal with those painting their cars "VOTE YES" in town? SERIOUSLY?!! I believe one BOE member is a follower in this regard (aka: "Sour Grapes") What is wrong with these people?????

I am genuinely NOT trying to start an argument but I am curious why you feel this way. I feel like if I hear from as many people on the topic and their feelings about it and why I can be better informed for the future.
