These numbers are pretty overwhelming. They clearly show that the BOE and in particular, ADK, drove this down vote of the budget. It's also interesting that the bifurcation issue was decisively clear. Any statistician can look at that data and conclude the decisions of the voters (not so much with the RHAM BOE line).

Now we have some work to do. First on the BOE budget. Second on the charter, which was just revised, that apparently missed a key process that the townsfolk want.

I'm happy that I was aligned with the majority on these line items. It gives me hope that Hebron may actually live in the real world.

I agree that the RHAM BOE line is puzzling. Hebron voters basically split fairly evenly on the RHAM budget line, but according to the exit poll, 135 more voters said they voted yes than no voters. Overall, it looked like the turnout for the exit poll was pretty good, but clearly disproportionate response in the exit poll compared to the actual vote.

I would chalk this up to the fact that most people who responded to the exit poll did so in order to answer the ADK question - this is clear from the fact that it has the lowest number of "non-responses".

I wonder how many people didn't understand the interplay between the HBOE budget and the general government budget - or couldn't determine how to answer the HBOE budget line in the exit poll - I know folks opposed to ADK who told me they would answer "too low", "acceptable", and "too high" - and the results for the ADK line prove this happened. There are folks who don't want the program expanded, and there are others who want it eliminated.

What would be interesting to tabulate, but would take more time, would be determining how the "no" to the overall budget line voters responded to the HBOE line. It seems to me that the "yes" voters likely voted "acceptable" or "too low" in much higher numbers than moreso than they would have voted "too high". But it is the
no" voters who need to be understood - what is it that the BOF and BOE can do to get their support? How much do they have to change, and what? It seems plenty clear that ditching ADK is what has to be done.

The fact that more yes supporters took the exit poll than no voters is also revealing. These may skew the exit poll results more in favor of "acceptable" and "too low", indicating that more cuts would be welcome.

Town Manager Bonnie Therrien announced at BOF meeting tonight that the "Comments" on the Advisory Ballot will be released tomorrow. 75% of the voters filled out the Advisory Ballot -- PHENOMENAL! As soon as the "Comments" are released to the public, we'll publish on the site.
