This afternoon, on my way to the Amston Post Office, I could not help but notice that a "Vote Yes for Our Community" sign was nailed to a tree just south of the entrance to the Airline Trail. Public Works is on their way to remove the sign.

Please folks, don't nail signs to trees on public or state property, or put them on guardrails. There are many people in our community who have dedicated their lives to environmental preservation and protection. Nailing ANY sign to a tree, or obstructing vision by placing a sign on guardrails, is not acceptable. Let's respect our environment.

Keep in mind: It's just a budget vote, and no budget vote should become a rationale for damaging our beautiful Hebron environment.

Good point. I see these every year - for and against, and it burns my bra!

I've seen signs for candidates seeking elective offices, nailed to trees, and it makes me want to vote against them just for sheer stupidity.

Sadly, it is not just our community where this happens, but until more people speak up, I'm afraid it won't change much.

Then we need to speak up! There's a place for campaign signs, but it is NOT being nailed on Hebron's and the State's trees! If people want to nail to their personal trees, there's nothing we can do about that, sad as it is in an environmental context.

I had another report that a Vote Yes for Our Community sign was nailed to a tree next to St. Peters field.

I think people need to write a Letter to the Editor addressing this very issue. Whatever side you're on, nailing signs for any cause to trees and guardrails are not acceptable in our community.

Thank you for your thoughts.
