Surprisingly few people showed up tonight in support of the BOE. Most people who spoke, spoke in favor of further reductions. I think there were three or four in favor of the BOE budget, one of whom was Mark Allaben. Bottom line, the BOF reduced the BOE budget to 1.5%. It's not enough for me, and I'll probably vote against it. But the BOE certainly can't claim that the town is in good shape after the schooling they received from Mike Hazel tonight! Outlined the stuff we're all already aware of, except there is a new hit to our revenue from the sewers. Something about sewer assessments being overestimated for the past couple of years, from what I could gather.

Something very odd was that Ellie Cruz gave the BOF a handout which looked to be the same list of cuts we've all seen, but several members of the BOE seemed surprised that the BOF already had the cuts? Part of the handout apparently went over a further reduction of the BOE budget to 3.02 %. Apparently a last-ditch effort to get their entire budget approved?

For some reason I was offended by the supt. rolling up in her late-model BMW and strolling into the library in her 3-inch patent-leather pumps tonight. Never really noticed how she outfitted herself before, but all of a sudden it bothered me. When you live like that, maybe it's hard to put yourself in the shoes of the common folk?

My Ouija Board Is Clear In Saying That If The ADK Program Is Terminated & Downsized To A Fulltime HDK For All, The 1.5% Increase will Have A Much Better Chance Of Passing Muster With the Voters.
