This administration apparently has forgotten the fact that a few short years ago a student was struck by a car crossing that street in that spot. Scheduling only a half hour for students to find their new classroom, meet their classroom teacher, is completely inconsiderate. With 25 kids per classroom, students and parents would have perhaps a minute of their teacher's attention, especially counting the fact that some students will like to stop by a former teacher's classroom to simply say hello, how was your summer, etc. What is worse is the fact that this same chaotic schedule was apparently just adopted last year - and despite the complaints from parents the administration decided to do it the same way. Reports were that families were lined up an hour ahead of time, so they could park, while they had to wait to get in to the classrooms. Additionally, an intercom announcement directed all teachers to a "mandatory" meeting after the quick half hour. Many parents want to help out at the schools, and they should be made to feel welcome - not like they are an intrusion.
