Re the town employees--I wasn't aware that we'd heard anything re the town budget yet? The only thing I heard was that the town expected to come in at 0 or very close. If the town employees are getting bonuses, it doesn't sound like they'll affect the bottom line?

In my opinion, no one should get bonuses, "a nice raise," or "a little extra" this year.

I just read the comment to which you refer on the superintendent's blog. If that is true, that is despicable. A 6 1/2 % increase for town employees? In this economy? Again, I have to ask if these people are actually in touch with reality? And how will they manage a 0% increase if this is the case?

Are they going to manage a zero percent increase over last year's budget by not having to pay for a town manager, for at least part of the year?

We should come in way under last year's budget because of this, although a chunk of it might be wasted on lawyers re: the JDay fiasco

Write - email - phone the BOF to tell them you support their effort to keep the town budget at a zero percent increase. Someone has to take a stand and say "NO MORE!!" to the BOE. I hope all the members of the BOF will have the courage to do this. Let us speak collectively and encourage them you to say "NO"!! We cannot let the BOE proposed budget stand as it is presented. What is so difficult to understand. A 0% increase means that the final budget total from LAST year should equal the final budget total this year.

This is a reasonable request (a 0% increase). It is stating if you want "xyz' ... what ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE UP OR WHAT OTHER LINE ITEM WILL YOU EXPEND LESS FUNDS ON SO THAT THE BOTTOM LINE OF THE BUDGET REMAINS THE SAME. Unfortunately the school administration "wants" it all and doesn't care about the tax impact on the community.

An administrator on this board has stated the BOE under-estimated insurance in the proposed budget by $50K+. Now, their proposed budget which was already too expensive will actually be increased by 50K.

WHAT A MESS! The children in our community will not suffer from any cuts because teachers will be the last to go....believe me, this is an idle threat. There has never been a clear distinction between "wants and needs" with the BOE administration. The administrators ask for more and more funding and the BOE rubber-stamps all the requests without asking for "valid supporting data".

A large portion of our tax dollars has supported this small school district in the past. This cannot continue forever. I BELIEVE THE TIME TO STOP THIS CYCLE OF GENEROUS FUNDING IS HERE!! -- our pockets are empty.
