School Survey Results 1 Year, 4 Months ago

Check out the school survey results ... this is "a perfect demonstration" of how minimal feedback can be used to produce a printed baseline report!! This is ridiculous!! Will the BOE ask the NECESSARY QUESTIONS ... or accept the report as a baseline?!?
Some questions needing answers:
(1) The on-line offering for responses was anonymous and apparently no one kept track of "IP" addresses to see if Mr/Mrs X or possibly teacher "XYZ" submitted multiple reply forms. Think about it! Folks were encouraged to submit multiple responses if they had a students enrolled in either school. There wasn't any built-in safeguard to restrict multiple submissions from one individual.
(2) There is no explanation of the "parameters" used for the "face to face" interviews, that is: "How was the RANDOM administrator, teacher or parent selected"?? This would be a convenient way to "stack the deck" with folks who would respond with the "correct" answer. Were these folks casually shopping in town or were they "available" on-site for an interview at the schools??
(3) Are these really VALID SAMPLE SIZES?? There were only 43 responses for Gilead and 111 from Hebron. Considering the size of the staff, number of students and possibly 2 parents per student ... this doesn't even appear to be 1% of the school-related population. When you look at the Hebron numbers 60 parents responded and next to that line the report had (54%). Yes, 54% is correct when you realize that is 60 responses out of a total of 111. This is NOT 54% of ALL PARENTS AT that school Check out the bottom of page 4 http://tiny.cc/8T0Sb This is amusing!! Although acknowledging limitations, we are suppose to be comfortable with the published results because of what these consultants interpreted from the assessment process based on minimal responses AND their "wealth of leadership experience". That last phrase was lifted directly off that page.

When is someone on this site finally going to get off this pulpit/website and really find out what is going on in our town, never mind our schools. I find it hysterical, as well as totally absurd that Auntie is more interested in getting the exact name of the State of CT Department Mrs. Collins has us about to get crushed by, instead of the consequences we face when Ms. Cruz and our town are found guilty as sin.
I have to applaud whoever wrote that the survey is a joke because, with Cruz overseeing this matter, from day one, the BOE paying the observers and this hideous survey format, how could it be worth whatever money we wasted on it. By the way, HOW MUCH DID THIS MESS COST US? I find it laughable that our town just paid even more money for work our Superintendent, if competent and trustworthy, could and should have completed on her own.
As for the sentence Auntie pulled from the online report and for the purpose of once again slamming Mrs. Collins, it matters little what conditions exist between Cruz (Central Office) and Collins, if you then ignore the actual reasons. The item Auntie pulled from the report was “The majority of staff feels the effects of leadership issues between the Central Office Staff and the School Principal.” No kidding! All that says is that the staff has ears and isn’t stupid. Forget the Central Office reference because plain and simple, the problem is strictly between Cruz and Collins. What the so called independent surveyors wouldn’t say, because they know who hired them and is paying the bill is that the staff definitely feels Cruz is the problem and to the extent most of them wish Cruz would just stay away from HES. She has never been a Principal, never mind a Superintendent and her micro management of people better equipped than her is most unwelcome.
The only thing that matters to this egoistical, hideous and inept woman is continually pulling the wool over the eyes of our dopey Hebron BOE and taxpayers. It’s all about being popular and unfortunately, at the expense of being effective. A Principal, dealing with difficult day in and day out school issues, involving people’s children, isn’t afforded the luxury of always being popular. An experienced Superintendent knows that and supports the administrators in this regard.
Bottom line is “Things Fail by Design” and when our BOE hired Cruz we were doomed.

Then again, Bob Smith (aka Principal Collins) may have voted several times herself to skew the results toward Collins.
Mombert is absolutely right about this being too small a sample size to be very meaningful.
This is the type of project that Cruz should have been able to collect herself, but she hired her cronies to do so, under the guise of anonymity.
Bob Smith clearly must have missed the clear implication that MANY parents are dissatisfied with Collins.
